According to President-apparent Noynoy Aquino, his sister, Kris Aquino, will not be his
First Lady as The Philippine Star reported on its May 22 issue.
As
First Lady de facto (meaning in practice), maybe Kris can as Senator Mirriam Santiago pointed out.
In world politics, Park Geun-hye, a daughter of
Park Chung-hee,
president of South Korea from 1963 to 1979, became his father's First Lady de facto when her mother was assassinated.
Being First Lady in practice is a
public service role in a democratic society and
Kris may just be doing that after she proclaimed before the media this month that she will be serving alongside Noynoy.
